Lily-Rose Dieuaide (Equestrian)

How did you discover your passion for equestrian ?
It all started when my older sister inspired me to try it. Later on, I began taking it seriously with my former coach, Mélissa Tremblay, who taught me all the basics of equestrian! After that, I continued my journey with Anne-Marie Bélanger — she, along with my other coach Emmanuelle Lanctôt Bédard, gave me the desire to compete at a higher level and continue advancing in my training!
What does equestrian bring to your daily life ?
It brings me a lot of peace and calm. It’s a bit like doing yoga. When I get on a horse, all my thoughts leave me — I stop thinking about everything. My mind goes completely blank. I focus on the horse and on what they’re feeling so I can adapt to them.
What are your goals or dreams for the next 5 years ?
In 5 years, my next mount and I should already know each other well and be well developed! I see us competing on international circuits!
How would you like to make a difference or inspire other young people ?
I’d like to show younger people that anything is possible when you truly give yourself the means to succeed! No matter what’s stopping you from reaching your dream, I can promise you that by putting your heart into it, you’ll get there. Nothing is easy, but everything can become easier if you give it all you've got!
I’d also like to say that it’s important to talk about mental health in our athletic journey — many athletes struggle with performance anxiety, generalized anxiety, and many other forms of it. It’s important to talk about it and not be ashamed.
What can we wish you for the next steps in your journey ?
To keep progressing despite the financial limitations that this sport can bring, and to wish me a promising future with my next partner in the biggest competition rings! And, of course, to achieve my greatest dream — the Olympic Games!

Why the Élève Athlète program ?
Young people are engaged at school, social and sporting levels.
The program is there to enable young people to acquire academic and sports skills, but above all human and cultural values.
Why several scholarships ?
By offering several scholarships to different young people, the organization can reach a greater number of beneficiaries and offer support to several young people.

What is your greatest accomplishment as a skier so far ?
I ranked third overall at the 2021/2022 U16 National Championships.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years ?
I would like to have continued my schooling elsewhere in the world, to continue my sporting journey in skiing and then, to have started a clothing company.
What competition would you absolutely want to participate in during your skiing career ?
I would like to represent Canada in a ski world cup one day.
